Hands

Hands by Rethabile Masilo

Hands
In Gaza, every single day is a struggle to find food and water, find promise out of rubble. It is easier to find a hand away from its body. Someday the children will understand, they'll grow knowing this was against them. People say they'll turn into terrorists... so they must die now with empty bellies. One fights with hands for the right to live, looks for food with hands, loves, pampers, helps others with hands, shakes other hands with hands, or unfolds hands to show a lack of malice or ill intent, fights with hands in every holocaust, and uses hands to hide from death, right here upon these lands.
